General questions about AfriMed™

What is AfriMed™, and how does it work?

AfriMed™ brings appointments, messages, health records and prescriptions into connected workspaces for patients and care teams. Patients manage their information and sharing permissions; clinicians review and approve clinical decisions and documents. Available services depend on your location, account and participating providers.

What problems does AfriMed™ solve in the healthcare system?

Care can become fragmented when information, appointments and follow-up sit in different places. AfriMed™ helps people organise their care information and helps professionals coordinate appointments, records and authorised referrals. It does not guarantee a provider, an appointment or insurance cover.

How does AfriMed™ improve healthcare access in Southern Africa?

Digital appointments and shared care information can help people prepare for care and keep track of the next step. Remote care is available only where a participating clinician and the relevant service are available; some concerns still need an in-person assessment.

Who can use AfriMed™—patients, doctors, insurers, or governments?

AfriMed™ has workflows for patients, clinicians, pharmacies and practice teams. Institutions can discuss coordinated reporting and regional oversight with AfriMed™. An insurer or government organisation should contact the team about its requirements; a public registration page does not grant institutional access.

How does AfriMed™ support universal healthcare access?

Our ambition is to make care easier to reach and coordinate, including for people whose care crosses services or locations. Digital tools alone cannot ensure universal coverage, remove all costs or replace local services. Eligibility, participating providers and payment arrangements still need to be confirmed.

Where is AfriMed™ currently available, and what are the plans for expansion?

AfriMed™ is a South African registered company with a Southern African and SADC focus. Service availability depends on location, participating providers and account access. Confirm the service you need before arranging care. We have not announced a region-wide launch or a fixed expansion timetable.

How can users (patients, doctors, and insurers) register and start using AfriMed™?

Public account creation without an invitation is planned. Registration remains closed while launch checks are completed. Existing patients and clinicians use the sign-in page and complete the steps for their role. Professional verification and service access are separate from creating an account. Pharmacies, insurers and institutions should confirm onboarding arrangements with AfriMed™. If you cannot access an existing account, contact AfriMed™ rather than create a duplicate.

Does AfriMed™ require a subscription or payment to access services?

Charges and payment options depend on the service, provider and country. Check the amount and terms shown for your consultation or pharmacy order before confirming. A saved insurance policy is not confirmation of cover, and AfriMed™ does not currently promise automatic insurance-claim settlement.

What languages does AfriMed™ support?

This website is available in English and French. The application has its own language settings; translated coverage varies by role and feature. A language listed in settings does not mean every screen or a clinician’s consultation is available in that language. Confirm the language of care with your provider.

Technology & security

What role does AI play in AfriMed™’s healthcare solutions?

Fola is a clinical documentation assistant. Where enabled, it helps clinicians prepare drafts from authorised consultation information. Clinicians remain responsible for reviewing and finalising documents. Fola does not independently diagnose, prescribe or provide an established patient pre-check service.

Does AfriMed™ use blockchain to secure medical records and transactions?

Blockchain is not an established AfriMed™ capability. Access to records is governed through authenticated accounts, role and care-context permissions, and patient authorisation where required. We do not describe records or transactions as blockchain-secured.

Insurance & financial model

Will my insurance cover my care?

Cover depends on your policy, provider and service. Confirm it with your insurer before booking. Saving an insurance policy in AfriMed™ does not confirm cover or trigger automatic claim settlement.

Government & regulatory compliance

How does AfriMed™ protect patient privacy and handle data protection responsibilities?

Access is limited by account, role and the care relationship. Patients manage relevant sharing permissions; clinicians cannot simply grant themselves access to a patient’s private records. Only share information needed for the task, and report unexpected access through support. These controls do not amount to a blanket claim of legal certification.

How can I exercise my data rights?

Read the Privacy Policy and data-deletion instructions. If you can sign in, use the applicable procedures in account settings. You can also use this form without an account for a privacy enquiry or rights request. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request.

Future vision & scalability

How does AfriMed™ differentiate itself from other digital health platforms?

ConnectedCare focuses on continuity: helping the person and the team understand what happens before, during and after a consultation. Patient permissions, clinician review and clear handovers are central to that approach. Our regional ambition is shaped by Southern African communities.

How does AfriMed™ integrate with existing healthcare IT systems in hospitals and clinics?

AfriMed™ supports permission-based sharing within its own workflows. External connections require partner onboarding, an agreed information scope and a validated adapter. A saved integration setting is not an active hospital, laboratory or insurer connection.
